Café de Living

In Lauwe, in the Belgian province of West Flanders, close to the French border, you meet in the extraordinary ambience of Café de Living: Surrounded by stylish 19th century interior, the RIKA pellet stove SUMO has recently ensured comfortable warmth and cosy hours on colder days.

Some years ago, Rudi and Els bought a former notary’s office at the old station of Lauwe, a district of Menen city, and transformed it into a nostalgic café with a familiar character – a meeting point for friends, neighbours and families to drink together, have a snack and have a good time.

The former reception area, the showpiece of the building, has been originally restored. The terrace in Art Déco style also belongs to the Café de Living as does a lovely park garden where the kids can run around to their hearts’ content. Despite the central heating, a stove was indispensable for the comfortable flair and thus, Rudi and Els decided in favour of RIKA SUMO. The pellet stove convinced them with its heating power of 9 kW – perfect for bigger rooms – and the large pellet tank which they only have to refill very rarely.

Café de Living offers home-made cakes, quiches, croques, self-made ice cream, beer from their own production and many other delicious beverages. At the weekends, you can enjoy excellent breakfast and special menus there. They also organise most different events such as hiking tours in the De Bramier and Preshoekbos conservation areas, which are close by.
