Innovation and production

At the highest level

We are the market leader

In 1989 we became the very first company to introduce pellet stove technology to Europe and are still the market leader in this sector today.

The stoves we want to sell in three years must be developed and designed today. This is why our employees in the company's own research and test laboratory are constantly working on new and refined developments. In addition, research and development at RIKA always focuses on sustainability. Wood is a valuable resource. To us, using it efficiently is as much a part of sustainability as constantly working to reduce emissions.

Made in Austria

Every RIKA stove is a piece of genuine Austrian quality. At the two production sites in Micheldorf and Adlwang in Upper Austria, over 250 employees manufacture our high-quality pellet and wood-burning stoves with the support of the latest industry 4.0 technology.

Industry 4.0

RIKA starts utilising the smart production of the future

“We want to retain our position as the world’s most efficient and state-of-the-art production for heating devices and to further extend our lead over our competitors.” With this vision RIKA launched an exceptional digitalisation project at their Adlwang production facility at the start of 2018.

Through investments in state-of-the-art Industry 4.0 technology, RIKA is also equipped for the challenges of the future. Smart automation and digitalisation play a central role here.

The former takes the form of intelligent driverless transport systems (DTS), which can perform transportation tasks within the production facility completely autonomously.

In terms of digitalisation, an innovative worker assistance system is being implemented, which proactively supports production employees with video instructions on a tablet during the assembly of the stoves.

Likewise all production data for a stove are recorded digitally in real time, which ensures complete data quality and allows various types of big data analysis.

The entire project received scientific support from the University of Applied Sciences Upper Austria, Steyr Campus, and has already been very well received by our partners.
